Tara: Comprehensive Reading Assessment App
Tara (Teacher's Assistant for Reading Assessment) is an educational tool designed for the automatic assessment of early grade reading skills, including the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) and Oral Reading Fluency Assessment (ORF). This app enables teachers to record and evaluate students on age-appropriate stories, streamlining the process of monitoring foundational literacy skills.
Once recordings for all students in a cohort are completed, the app allows for the automatic generation of detailed reading report cards. These report cards provide insights into key performance metrics such as Words Correct Per Minute (WCPM), word mistakes, reading pace, and expressiveness. Additionally, Tara facilitates periodic formative assessments, which can help track a cohort's progress over time and identify effective learning interventions.
